Courteney Cox is Haunted by Her ‘Scream 3’ Bangs in New TikTok

What’s the scariest thing about Scream 3 to you? Is it the killer’s distinctly personal motivation? Is it Cotton Weary’s weird killer foreplay? Or, like most of us Scream 3 fans, is it Gale Weathers’ (Courteney Cox) bangs? It might appear to be much ado about nothing, but those bangs have haunted Scream fans since their premiere in 2000. They’re not just blunt, but incredulously short, rendered all the more baffling on account of Gale’s sick highlights in the preceding entry.
The origin varies, and I’ve heard several disparate accounts. Some suggest that it was the only wig they had on set, and when they messed up the trim, Gale Weathers was saddled with an unfortunately enduring hairstyle.

However, actor David Arquette has offered a diverging account, suggesting he was responsible, urging Cox to go for something akin to a “Bettie Page” look. Where did the bangs originate? We may never know, but one thing’s for certain—Cox is never going to forget them. In a recent TikTok shared on the actor’s account, Cox pokes fun at the hairstyle, conceptualizing a day at home where everyone is wearing sweatshirts adorned with stills from Scream 3.

Cox is clearly having a good time poking fun at the infamous style. Additionally, if you’re not following Cox on social media, why not? Last year, Cox won the MTV Movie Award for Best Fight for her showdown with Ghostface in Scream VI, and her social media has largely been predicated on paying homage to the role of Gale Weathers. It’s an endearing use of her platform, one that reminds audiences why both Gale and Cox are among the best parts of the Scream series.
