This Day in Horror: Happy Birthday Chloe Sevigny

On this day in 1974: Chloe Sevigny was born.

Sevigny is best known as an indie film darling. After befriending Harmony Korine in her senior year in high school, she was cast in her first film, Kids, which Korine wrote. At age 19, it was her first acting gig. She would go on to appear in other controversial Korine films, including Gummo and Julien Donkey-Boy. Most controversial was her role in The Brown Bunny, in which Sevigny gives an unsimulated blow job to co-star Vincent Gallo.

On the genre side, Sevigny has appeared in American Psycho, playing Patrick Bateman’s office assistant; #Horror, as the mother of a teen whose party is interrupted by a murderer; Antibirth, as the friend of a woman who becomes pregnant though she hasn’t had sex in over a year; Lizzie, as notorious axe murderer Lizzie Borden; and The Dead Don’t Die, a small-town police officer in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. She has also appeared in two seasons of American Horror Story. In Season 2, Asylum, she played a nymphomaniac whose cheating husband has her committed. In Season 5, Hotel, she plays the estranged wife to the police detective who is investigating the strange goings-on in the eponymous hotel.
