Tony Todd Hops in the Director's Chair for CatalyticIn his expansive career Tony Todd has accomplished many a milestone. This latest bit of news comes as without question one of the finest feathers in his cap. That’s right, kids! The man himself is getting set to conjure up some fear in a brand new way!

According to Variety Todd is preparing to step behind the camera for a change, as the Final Destination thesp will write and direct the genre film Catalytic for the newly formed production company Assembly Line (Sushi Girl).

Assembly Line partners Destin Pfaff (“Millionaire Matchmaker”), Neal Fischer, Kern Saxton and Suren M. Seron will produce the indie film, which follows a magician as he embarks on a road trip during an impending supernatural apocalypse.

Catalytic, which is currently casting, will be the first Assembly Line picture to be written by someone outside of its managing members.

The quartet of producers formed Assembly Line last year and the company’s first feature, Sushi Girl, was heavily hyped at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con. Saxton directed from a script he co-wrote with Pfaff, and the film stars Noah Hathaway and Andy Mackenzie and such genre stalwarts such as Mark Hamill, Michael Biehn, Sonny Chiba, Danny Trejo, Jeff Fahey, James Duval and Todd, who also exec produced.

Todd will make his directorial debut with Catalytic. He joins Saxton, Pfaff and Fischer among the helming ranks of Assembly Line’s upcoming slate.
