This one slipped under the radar, as sometimes it is difficult to tell what is purely fantasy and what nosedives right into our creepy neck of the woods. With Castlevania: Lords of Shadow we've got a mask purported to return the dead to life, legions of bloodthirsty monsters, and a lead character who walks around with a mad on, just itching to turn anything he comes across into a smear of gore. Let's check the vitals...

Castlevania
James Wan Nabs Castlevania
Genre staple James Wan just landed a gig that will most assuredly have lots of fans screaming, whipping, and tossing holy water at birds and or overly acrobatic midgets!

Wii Whips it With Castlevania
How the Nintendo Wii remains such a dominant force in the gaming community is beyond me. If you look down the line of games, there's a pretty good track record of party games, Mario-centric titles and some glorified Gamecube ports. How about we get something that will actually feel like it was meant for the Wii?

More Castlevania Figures!
Here are the goods that NECA promised us a scant few days ago (“NECA’s Castlevania Figures” – August 2007); the first pics of their Succubus and Dracula figures from the upcoming line of Castlevania toys. We’ll just show you the pics and throw you over to NECA’s official site for all the specs on the figures. Look for the first line of Castlevania toys in stores this October!

NECA's Castlevania Figures
NECA just dropped the first pics from their upcoming Castlevania toys, and I gotta say; they’re pretty damn cool. Not that you’d expect less from NECA these days, but sometimes it just needs to be said. Check it out; both Simon Belmont and Alucard will feature a ton of ball joints, making it easier to put them in awkward positions, and will come packaged with tons of accesories. Later this week NECA will reveal the remaining figures in the line, the Sucubus and Dracula, so keep an eye out for pics of those soon!

New Castlevania Helmer Announced!
A while back we first reported, based on info from "inside", that Paul WS Anderson was no longer at the helm of the film adaptation of Castlevania, the popular vampire-themed video game from Konami. Since then it’s been pretty quite on the adaptation’s status, but finally a new director has climbed on board.

Exclusive: Anderson Off Castlevania!
You know a project is in trouble when Paul W.S. Anderson, a man who's spent almost his entire career turning potentially cool movies into steaming piles of pooh, leaves a film.

Posterizing AFM
One of the other cool things that come out of AFM each year is the plethora of new posters for films, most of which are usually temporary for the fest itself, but some are the real final deal. The boys at Bloody Disgusting got their camera lens pointed at five such posters: early works for Castlevania and The Deaths of Ian as well as what looks like the final posters for Hatchet, The Tripper, and Doug Buck’s Sisters remake. Click here to check ‘em out!
