The sick minds behind Crank and Pathology, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, could not settle their creative differences with the folks behind the scenes of Jonah Hex, so Variety reports that they have left the project.

Word has come down via Variety this morning that Josh Brolin is in talks to take on the title role in Warner Bros. upcoming adaptation of the DC comic Jonah Hex, the script for which was penned by the Crank team of Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine. The duo will also direct.

UPDATE: According to Crank scribe Mark Neveldine, Troma's Lloyd Kaufman will have a cameo in Crank 2 along with Gelnn Howard ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia") and someone we thought bit the big one in the first film, Efren Ramirez. Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor made probably one of the most underrated movies of 2006, Crank. It was tasteless, bloody and funny. Sadly, we all thought Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) was a goner when he fell a few thousand feet and smashed into a car.
