A handful of rather bizarre DVD re-releases are on tap this week for some reason including Evil Remains, Shallow Ground, and Satan's Little Helper; but at least they're accompanied by several new films, a box set of the entire Friday the 13th: The Series, a twin-pack of Carnival of Souls in both color and black & white, and Shaun of the Dead and Godzilla on Blu-ray!

Two new slices of splattery goodness have slithered forth for your enjoyment as we all eagerly await the release of John Harrison's adaptation of Clive Barker's Book of Blood. That's right kids, we have them for you all right here -- warm and drippy.

Before Book of Blood makes its Blu-ray and DVD bow on September 22, horror fans will have the chance to see it at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con ... with Clive Barker in attendance!

John Harrison's adaptation of Clive Barker's Book of Blood got itself a drippy new red band trailer today that's sporting quite a bit of squishy stuff. We like.

Reading through Clive Barker's Books of Blood was some of the most fun I've ever had with the genre. Sure, not every story was a winner, but the sheer imagination on display was astonishing. With director John Harrison having lensed two stories for an anthology film, I had some hope of seeing the adaptation hit the multiplexes.

One film we've been keeping tabs on with regard to distribution -- Will it go theatrical? Will it be TV & DVD only? -- is Clive Barker's Book of Blood. Today we learned that Lightning Media has acquired US rights to the film and plans to release it theatrically in late 2009/early 2010.

We gave you an update in early March that Book of Blood was headed to TV, but at that time no one knew any of the particulars. Today some of the pieces fell into place.

**UPDATED: Clive Barker's Book of Blood review is now online. With The Midnight Meat Train and Dread getting all the Barker love nowadays, one has to wonder whatever happened to John Harrison's Book of Blood adaptation from last fall. Time for a status check!
