Stephen King's Blockade Billy Sneaking Out April 20thFor a guy who supposedly retired back in 2002, Stephen King sure does have a full plate! Not only has he revealed the four story titles and plot synopses for his upcoming collection of novellas entitled Full Dark, No Stars, but he’s also got a brand new novella that practically nobody’s even heard of yet coming out April 20th!

Per usual, StephenKing.com provided the skinny on both projects. On April 20th Cemetary Dance Publications will release Blockade Billy, and if you order it from their site, for a limited time only you’ll receive an authentic Blockade Billy Baseball Card with your order. Here’s the synopsis:

Even the most diehard baseball fans don’t know the true story of William “Blockade Billy” Blakely. He may have been the greatest player the game has ever seen, but today no one remembers his name. He was the first — and only — player to have his existence completely removed from the record books. Even his team is long forgotten, barely a footnote in the game’s history.

Every effort was made to erase any evidence that William Blakely played professional baseball, and with good reason. Blockade Billy had a secret darker than any pill or injection that might cause a scandal in sports today. His secret was much, much worse… and only Stephen King, the most gifted storyteller of our age, can reveal the truth to the world, once and for all.

In typical King fashion, the author released the following statement about the book: “I love old-school baseball, and I also love the way people who’ve spent a lifetime in the game talk about the game. I tried to combine those things in a story of suspense. People have asked me for years when I was going to write a baseball story. Ask no more; this is it.

As for the aforementioned Full Dark, No Stars, King’s official site posted the following info on the collection, which Simon & Schuster will be releasing November 9th:

  • “1922” – The story opens with the confession of Wilfred James to the murder of his wife, Arlette, following their move to Hemingford, Nebraska, onto land willed to Arlette by her father.
  • “Big Driver” – Mystery writer Tess has been supplementing her writing income for years by doing speaking engagements with no problems. But following a last-minute invitation to a book club 60 miles away, she takes a shortcut home with dire consequences.
  • “Fair Extension” – Harry Streeter, who is suffering from cancer, decides to make a deal with the devil, but as always, there is a price to pay.
  • “A Good Marriage” – Darcy Anderson learns more about her husband of over twenty years than she would have liked to know when she stumbles literally upon a box under a worktable in their garage.
