Anthologies

Bloody Cuts is an anthology of 13 low/no budget short horror films that are being released periodically on the internet for us all to feast our hungry peepers on. The team wowed us with their initial offering, Lock Up, and have now followed that up with an even more impressive bit of nastiness entitled Stitches

Since we know a lot of our Dread Central regulars are avid book readers, we're always on the lookout for new stories and anthologies to share with them. Today we have two collections of horror tales that sound like good candidates for a summer reading list: Decayed Etchings and Shadows: Supernatural Tales by Masters of Modern Literature.

The acclaimed horror anthology comic book series Bela Lugosi's Tales from the Grave is going digital! Via the iVerse Media "Comics +" app on iTunes, you can now download the first issue for your iPod, iPad and/or iPhone.

Back in the days when I was a young, fledgling horror fan, magazines and comics about my beloved genre were not nearly as readily available as they are today.

2010 was a huge year for Monsterverse, and 2011 looks to be even bigger. The second issue of Bela Lugosi's Tales from the Grave features a cover by Academy Award winning make-up artist Rick Baker, and today the artwork got its online debut. Read on to see it in all its seafaring glory!

Dread Central hit the set of Tim Sullivan’s Chillerama segment "I Was A Teenage Werebear" last week in Ventura, CA, and while a set report is imminent from the anthology film (and it was a crazy, splat-stick visit!), we thought we’d drop the hair-raising (pun intended) teaser image provided by director Sullivan.

It’s not often we write articles about award-winning performers here on Dread Central, which makes this all the more exciting for yours truly. This past weekend Deon Taylor (Dead Tone, Chain Letter) invited Dread Central exclusively out to his set in Los Angeles to give us a look at the revamping of his Night Tales (previously Nite Tales) brand of horror.

Publisher Cemetery Dance is about to send Volume VI of its popular anthology series Shivers to the printer, and fans of Stephen King will be happy to hear that it includes his long lost novella "The Crate", which was written in the late 1970s and hasn't been seen in print in over 30 years, nor has it ever been in one of his collections!

Another collection of horror tales is on its way from indie director Chris Vandale called Anthology, and we've got a couple of scenes and the skinny for all your horror heads out there.

The good thing about horror anthologies is that if you get bored with one story, you only have to wait a few moments for the next one to begin! It's perfect viewing for audiences with A.D.D.! Hopefully the latest horror anthology The Perfect House will be nothing but good and you'll want to relish every spook-filled second!

April first brings out the prankster in all of us. While most of us know just how far to take a joke, we all have that friend. The one who just doesn't know when to stop. The one who thinks that April Fool's Day means he can get away with murder. This episode of Dreadtime Stories is a salute to that friend, as well as an homage to Orson Welles. Special guest voice in this episode is none other than horror scribe Gary Braunbeck!

For the New Year the Dreadtime Players thought it might be cool to air our "Pilot Episode," the one that got us green-lit. Simple old-school terror reigns as a woman finds herself alone at night with a maniac loose in the neighborhood. We hope you enjoy our first effort, "The Caller."
