Trans Rights Advocate Angelica Ross Teases AMERICAN HORROR STORY Return

One of the reasons I’m most excited about American Horror Story: Double Feature is Angelica Ross. Ross is the breakout star of series like Pose and American Horror Story: 1984, so when she was cast in the upcoming season I took note.

While her gender identity has little to do with her talent, I believe there is a lot of importance in her emergence as a mainstream star. Not only is Ross a trans performer, but she is also an advocate for trans rights and visibility. So, having her appear in three different mainstream series as a trans and Black performer is unprecedented success in the world of Hollywood media.

In a conversation with Windy City Times, the actress shared some interesting insight into her upcoming role on American Horror Story: Double Feature!

Ross will be playing a character known as The Chemist.

Here’s what she had to say about the American Horror Story role:

I am thankful to be in Ryan Murphy’s favor right now … He recognizes my talent to give me more than what I did on Pose. He is giving me more screen time and more in-depth storylines. I can tell all of the writers are writing for me when I open the script. That is a wonderful thing to see.

Playing The Chemist was a wild roller coaster ride. I will give you a little scoop. When it comes to the conversation of drugs, trust the chemist. I trust the chemist more than I trust the government or the pharmaceutical industry. Is she perfect? No, but I trust where she is going.

Interesting. I can’t wait to tune in and learn more about The Chemist on August 25th.

American Horror Story: Double Feature is the tenth season within the award-winning anthology spookshow created by Ryan Murphy and creative partner Brad Falchuk.

Confirmed cast members for Season 10 include Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Finn Wittrock, Lily Rabe, Adina Porter, Angelica Ross, Kaia Gerber, and Macaulay Culkin.

American Horror Story: Double Feature premieres on August 25th on FX; new episodes will stream the following day on Hulu.
