One of the highlights of Piranha 3D was the death of the smarmy Joe Francis-like character played by Jerry O'Connell, and the producers have decided to take Piranha 3D 2 to the next level by having fans help select which "celebrity" they want to see offed next.
Now that the blood and boobs extravaganza Piranha 3D (review here) has had a few weeks to settle into the multiplexes for a hopefully nice long end-of-summer run, the final piece of the puzzle has arrived: Trembles' Motion Picture Purgatory take on the flick. Piranha 3D is directed by Alexandre Aja and stars Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Jerry O'Connell, Kelly Brook, Riley Steele, Steven R. McQueen, Jessica Szohr, Paul Scheer, Adam Scott, Christopher Lloyd, and Richard Dreyfuss.
And the waters surrounding Piranha 3D remain choppy as producer Mark Canton has decided to send an open letter to mega-director James Cameron regarding his recent remarks to Vanity Fair. Sit back, dear reader. There are fish tales to tell. For those not playing along, last week Cameron issued the following statement regarding Piranha 3D and its use of the 3D effect ... Vanity Fair: Was there any sense of nostalgia when the Piranha movie came out last weekend?
If there's any justice in this world, people will head out to theatres to see Piranha 3D (review here) in droves along with The Last Exorcism. If not, Ving Rhames is gonna go medieval on yo' asses!
It's not unusual for there to be sequel talk on a Monday following the opening weekend of a new movie. It is unusual when the movie being discussed for sequelization underperformed at the weekend's box office. Despite opening in fifth place and grossing less moolah than originally forecasted, the combination of critical and word-of-mouth praise for Piranha 3D may be enough to inspire a second feeding frenzy.
Now that Piranha 3D (review here) has been released to the public to chomp on boobies and other appendages, we thought we'd take a look back on how it begin, filming and all, and have broken it down for you so that you can find every toothy bit of information you need in one blood-soaked location.
Ah, Piranha 3D (review here)! You warm our hearts with your promises of boobs and blood. Billed the summer movie that is not family friendly, the flick is causing quite a buzz. The sliver of trashy good fun recently submitted a TV spot to various networks to run this weekend, but the powers-that-be denied the content, citing it as too gory for TV. Of course, we have it for you here!
We don't know about you guys, but in a year riddled with cinematic disappointments, for us the time has definitely come for some fun. If our Piranha 3D review is any indication of what's in store for us this weekend, that's exactly what we're going to get with Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3D!
It was 35 years ago that Jaws had people legitimately frightened of swimming in the ocean out of fear of being eaten by a great white shark. Just 24 hours out from the release of Piranha 3D, it seems there is some alarm in the community of Lake Havasu, where the movie was shot, that their tourism might take a hit if some foolish people out there become convinced their lakes truly are home to man-eating fish. You can't make this stuff up.

I swear even TV spots are better overseas. How so, you ask? Because they get over a minute of air time for theirs while here in the States we get like thirty seconds, if that. With Piranha 3D right around the corner, a new international TV spot has hit the web with a bit of new footage. Dig it!
