DVD Releases: March 17, 2009: Get Walled In with Murnau

Not a lot to choose from this week unless you're a fan of directors F.W. Murnau and Tun Fei Mou, but here's what's hitting the street March 17th, 2009.

Cold Spots: Frances E. Warren Air Force Base

Cheyenne, WY - As you drive down the street, you happen to glance up into a window and see a little girl waving at you. For a moment you forget yourself and begin to wave back, only to realize a moment later that there is no girl living in that house, and the owners are away for the weekend. You drive on, startled when the sounds of snorting horses and clopping hooves, accompanied by loud shouts and gunfire, grow louder and move past your car without any physical being to make the noise, until you reach your destination, a museum guarded by a man in uniform.

Margot Kidder Joins Halloween 2 Cast

Despite being well into filming, Rob Zombie keeps the casting process going for his upcoming sequel, Halloween 2. The newest face? Margot Kidder. We hope the former Lois Lane has kept Superman's phone number. Something tells me she's gonna need him.

Orphan Teaser One-Sheet and Trailer

Gotta say, Dark Castle Entertainment's newest spooky kid flick Orphan is looking good. The youngster they have playing our little devil, Isabelle Fuhrman, looks pretty creepy, that's for sure. So much so that she's the main feature on the film's teaser one-sheet.

Trailer: Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles

Hey, Wii owners! Ready for another round of brain splattery mayhem? Is there ever a wrong time? Well, we've got a preview of the goodies that await us later this year!

Fickman Creates Monster Attack Network

If you smelled what The Rock is cooking this weekend then you already know that Race to Witch Mountain opened #1 at the box office. If you smell what that film's director is cooking up next you'll pick up the scent of giant monsters and a special organization that deals with them called Monster Attack Network.

The Buz: TarantuLOL

Ever wonder how they artificially enhanced the shark brains in Deep Blue Sea? Or just how they were able to get dino DNA out those pesky mosquitoes from Jurassic Park? Well, this week's The Buz explains all those crazy little mysteries found in the movies and more.

Joe Moe: Horrorwood Babbles On: The Forrest J Ackerman Tribute

(Note: This story will be "stickied" at the top of our headlines for the day. Being able to host it is an honor beyond words.) It was a Blood-Red-letter day for fandom as pros and fans alike gathered to bid a reluctant “Forry-well” to the late great genre-icon Forrest J Ackerman! Hollywood’s historic Egyptian Theatre served as a temple for the filled-to-capacity ritual sponsored by the American Cinematheque, Profiles in History auction house and the Ackerman estate.

The final numbers aren't in yet, but it looks like The Last House on the Left managed to snag third place at the box office during its opening weekend.

Cool Elm Street Remake Fan Trailer

Indie director/producer Patrick Rea recently sent over some info on a project he's working on in conjunction with Outpost Worldwide. They are issuing a "call for films" for a national TV program pilot featuring works from America’s best independent filmmakers and aspiring film students of horror and sci-fi shorts.

Dawn of the Dead -- 3D?!?

Sometimes I just have to ask myself "Why?" and then repeatedly bang my face against my computer desk. First off, relax, there is NOT a new remake coming, but apparently producer Richard Rubinstein has plans to give the original Romero classic Dawn of the Dead a three-dimensional face lift.

Dead Snow Getting Limited Theatrical in June

Who doesn't love Nazi Zombie movies? These cretins were so evil and so foul it's almost poetic that they be given the chance to die gruesomely not once but twice! Well, come June you'll be able to experience the bloodshed in theatres first-hand.
