Starting next week, Dread Central will be bringing our readers lots of goodies for the upcoming web series Fear Clinic, directed by Robert Hall. Before we dive into Fear Clinic though, Heather Wixson thought it would be interesting to sit down and talk with Hall about his effects company, Almost Human, and just how he got started creating gore for both the big and little screens alike.
The Horror Chick Heather Wixson took a brief vacation so there was a delay in all of her Breath of Hate goodies. But fear not; she's back, and we've got Day Eight right here for you!
Remember that cruel April Fool's Day joke from last April? You know, the one about a director's cut of Mimic coming to DVD? Bingo. I'll never forget the confusion shown by Andrew Kasch when it seemed to be a prank, as he said he watched as people worked on it. Relax Andrew ... your sanity is saved. It's coming all right, along with Cronos, courtesy of Criterion.
Stephen King has had a long and rocky road on the big and small screens. The sad truth is his work just may be a little too complex for adaptation. That certainly hasn't stopped anyone from trying though. Enter E1 Entertainment and its newest hour-long TV project, Stephen King's "Haven".
Fantastic Fest '09 was incredible on so many levels. Even art-wise. Need some proof? Check out this exclusive one-sheet for Lars Von Trier's Antichrist which was fashioned exclusively for the festival.
Sure, Dead Space wasn’t much more than a Resident Evil 4 rip off set in space. But you gotta give credit where credit is due, and frankly, the game was a TON of fun. Furthermore, it made me jump like a little girl on more than one occasion (much to my fiancée’s delight) so while this new game Dead Space: Extraction looks like an action-oriented prequel – I’m sure it’ll put some hair on your Wii’s balls!
You wanted it. You demanded it. Paramount has listened. Dread Central and Bloody-Disgusting have just gotten an exclusive letter from the director of Paranormal Activity (review here), Oren Peli, with some very good news!
Tuesday, September 29th, is a big day for director Dave Parker and producer Robert Burnett. Their gritty horror flick The Hills Run Red (review here) will finally be hitting DVD shelves after a three-year long journey to get to this point.
Overture Films released the second teaser poster for its remake of the Romero classic The Crazies today, and it's pretty badass. Even better, a select few (including some DC staffers) have already seen test versions of the flick, and the early word has come back positive. That being said ... get ready for a wicked bit of teaser art!
Though it's taken a couple of days (thanks to there being no screenings for critics), our review of Overture Films' Pandorum is finally live and kicking! Did it make the cut?
Now that Survival of the Dead has had its premiere here in the States at Fantastic Fest '09, buzz has been steadily building for this sixth entry into the maestro's most beloved franchise.
"Revenge Thriller" -- two words that can mean horror or just an action-packed heavy drama, but considering the pedigree of the people involved in the recently announced Rubicon, we thought we'd pass on the info just in case it leans more toward the former than the latter.
We all love parties, and what could be more fun than one thrown by a group of vampires? We'll all find out come November 17th when Dark Sky Films releases the French horror/comedy Vampire Party (Les dents de la nuit) onto DVD. The film was co-directed by first-timers (according to IMDB) Stephen Cafiero and Vincent Lobelle, who also co-wrote the script with Jean-Patrick Benes and Allan Mauduit.
During this past weekend's HorrorFind in Hunt Valley, MD, the guys known as Punch Drunk Critics had a little chat with Danny Trejo, in which he spilled a few details on his roles in Machete and Sin City 2 and then revealed something none of us is surprised to hear: He'll also be appearing in the upcoming Predators.
As part of our ongoing exclusive coverage of Drew Daywalt's new web series "Camera Obscura", Dread Central is pleased to present three new behind-the-scenes photos, a director's tour of the Linda Vista Hospital where “Camera Obscura” was filmed, and the full official trailer.
