Dread Central hit last night’s premiere at Screamfest LA of the much talked about (and sensationally denigrating) Tom Six-written and directed feature The Human Centipede: First Sequence (review here) in Hollywood, CA, and brought back some ocular candy and video of a pair of the film’s stars.
Ok, so sometimes we're a little slow, but we usually deliver the goods so quit your bitchin'! Gear up for part one of our look at this Halloween season's biggest hits and misses.
Two words are on the lips of lots of horror fans this Halloween season and they're not "remakes suck", "PG13 blows", or "Saw VI". They are "Paranormal Activity" (review here). Recently we sat down with director Oren Peli for an in-depth talk about the film, the phenomenon, and even the potential sequel.
The final weekend box office numbers are in, and once again Paranormal Activity kicked a copious amount of ass, earning a per screen average that was almost three times as much as its closest competitor. And to celebrate, Paramount is throwing a party at the first ten theatres that sell out their midnight screenings for this coming Thursday night.
Not sure how we missed this story earlier in the week, but it did break the day after the Reaper Awards, so you can't blame us for moving a little slowly. In any event, it looks like The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has found its Lucy, Canadian actress Kirsten Prout.
Horror fans love this time of the year. For those of us not living in LA, there's the chill in the air, the colorful leaves, pumpkins everywhere, dead cornfields to explore … if you dare. So, in honor of OUR official holiday, I have come up with a list of books and some movies every horror fan should at least take a look at, if not outright add to your book or DVD library.
Anyone who attended tonight's Scream Awards at the Greek Theatre in LA hoping to see Twilight co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart win in their respective categories or present new footage from New Moon left disappointed. But members of Team Jacob made out like bandits thanks to a win by Taylor Lautner for Best Male Break-out Performance and his return to the stage a short while later to accept for Twilight in the Best Fantasy Film category.
Though we've been talking about it for a couple of weeks, Derek Mears finally made it official at this year's Rock and Shock convention in Worcester, MA! He is totally confirmed to be on board for Predators!
“Resistance is futile” -- The fourth annual Scream Awards, the first and only global event of its kind to honor the best in sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic genres are happening RIGHT NOW, at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, and we're bringing you the results as they happen. The two-hour extravaganza will premiere on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 27 (10:00 PM-Midnight, ET/PT).
This Dread Central scribe (along with 2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillys actress Kathryn Le) hit the black carpet of the opening night of Rachel Belofsky's 2009 Screamfest LA film festival last night, as well as the after-party at Boulevard 3. Pictures and more follow!
In case you just can't wait for the Monday, October 19th, preview of some new scenes from The Twilight Saga: New Moon on ET, we have a sneak peek of what you'll be seeing right here. The clip isn't of the greatest quality, but we know how rabid New Moon fans are about getting their hands on every tiny scrap of info that's out there, and we're here to help.
October 23rd, the date when horror spoof Stan Helsing opens in a limited theatrical release (followed on DVD and Blu-ray a few short days thereafter on October 27th), is fast approaching. Anchor Bay has provided us with a pretty funny "man on the street" type interview video that should go a long way toward ensuring the film isn't forgotten in all the pre-Halloween excitement.
We heard from writer/director Christopher DiNunzio today that his film Livestock has been picked up for distribution by R-Squared Films with a DVD release date of November 10, 2009.
With no kids of my own, I really have no idea if It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is appreciated by modern audiences or if it's just my generation that gathers around the TV each Halloween season to watch it one more time. If your kids (or the kid inside you) complain there's nothing "cool" to watch, how about checking out Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space?
It's been another jam-packed day of shooting on Never Sleep Again, and Dread Central is continuing our coverage of the documentary's Twitter feed. Come on in to find out who else has been on the hot seat!
