Lionsgate Spreading Xmas Fear with Silent Night, Deadly Night Box Set

I lost count of exactly how many Silent Night, Deadly Night films there were. Let's see ... there was the classic original flick that caused quite a stir. So much so that they barely filmed any original footage for its sequel Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 and things just sort of went batshit crazy from there. Bill Moseley was involved, there were brain pans, killer toys, Egyptian cults ... you name it. Lionsgate announced today that they will be bringing three of those crazy-ass sequels home in one shiny three-disc box set.

Poster and Synopsis for Abel Ferrara's Jekyll and Hyde

A few years ago Forest Whitaker won a Best Actor Oscar for his spellbinding performance as dictatorial mass murderer Idi Amin. Now he's starring opposite 50 Cent in the latest re-telling of Jekyll and Hyde. I'd roll my eyes, but the director is Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant, Driller Killer, Ms. 45), someone who can be a cinematic Jekyll and Hyde in his own right.

Godkiller DVD Release Pushed Back to Accommodate Demand

It isn't typical for an announcement of a DVD's release date being pushed back to be considered "good news", but in the case of Matt Pizzolo's episodic illustrated film Godkiller, the filmmaker couldn't be more ecstatic. So, what gives?

The Final Destination DVD / Blu-ray Delayed Until 2010

People looking to enjoy their death trip at home instead of theatres with David R. Ellis' The Final Destination are going to have to wait a little longer than expected to get their hands on this flick with all of its digital bits intact.

David Hackl: Saw VII Now in Pre-Production

Even though Saw VI hasn't even graced a single screen yet, Lionsgate is pushing forward with the seventh entry into its long-running franchise entitled Saw VII 3D.

Dread Central Presents: Do Not Disturb

We're pleased to announce that Dread Central is home to another new short from writer/director Patrick Rea entitled "Do Not Disturb". In true Rea fashion, the understated, yet extremely prolific, filmmaker describes it as "pretty weird".

Jennifer's Body Director to Resurrect Cronenberg-esque Horrors?

Even though Jennifer's Body (review here) hasn't been completely ... ummm ... exposed yet on a national scale, that hasn't stopped director Karyn Kusama from chatting up some future projects she has planned. One of which sounds particularly interesting.

RIP Patrick Swayze

It is with a heavy heart that we report tonight that Patrick Swayze (Donnie Darko) has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at the all too young age of 57.

HorrorClix Rise from the Grave

Wizkids seemed to JUST be getting things started with their HorrorClix line, having released Aliens vs. Predator, Hellboy and Freddy vs. Jason sets alongside all their original tiny horrors. Sure, the line had been pumping along for some time, but the addition of hardcore licensed baddies opened the possibility that you could pit any character from your favorite horror film against heavyweights like Michael Myers and Pumpkinhead in the not so distant future.

Badass Alternative Art - Dark Country

Ever look at the art on a DVD and think to yourself, "Come on! I know they can do better than this!"? Yep, generic art can be a real downer, especially when it contain floating heads, etc. Sadly, the DVD for Thomas Jane's directorial debut Dark Country, which hits home video on October 6th, 2009, has been hit with generic art, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything else out there.
