Back when Brad Anderson was attached to direct and Scott Kosar was supposed to write the remake of George Romero’s The Crazies, it was a project I was really looking forward to. Then it fell apart and I thought to myself “Well, it’s probably for the best…”

Dark Sky Films announced today that they're expanding their original production line (the first is David Gregory’s Plague Town) with a brand-new film from Trigger Man/Cabin Fever 2 director Ti West (pictured), The House of the Devil.

To help celebrate the brand new, super limited edition DVD of Christian Viel’s Deaden (review), the filmmakers behind the gory revenge film have provided Dread Central with an exclusive clip! And as long as we’re on their good side, I’m happy!

Some good news came down the DVD wire via Fangoria yesterday, so I thought it only fair that we share it with those of you who are so dedicated to Dread Central you can’t even think about hitting other horror sites...

Dominic Monaghan, who you all may know as Charlie from “Lost”, seems to have an affinity for our genre. First he starred alongside Ron Perlman in the Glass Eye Pix film I Sell the Dead (more on that soon), now he’s taken girls captive for his own sick pleasures in MGM’s Pet.

Looks like another horror flick is about to get the bump this year. Amusement, a story about three women with a connection who are being stalked, has been pushed back to September. This new comes down the pipes from Fangoria to name a few.

Last we heard, the Hellraiser remake totally vanished from the Weinstein's slate (“Hellraiser Redux Moves” – January 2008). Some of us this project was as doomed as anyone who ever opened the Lament Configuration.

As you may recall, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (review) is set to open in UK theaters next Friday, February 15th. Lucky Brits, we’re not getting it unitl (supposedly) April over here. But it’s all right, because Optimum Releasing have just thrown us a new clip from the film that should hopefully help tide you over for now. You know giant monster movies are getting to be back in vogue when an obscure 40-year old monster comic is getting dusted off as the basis for a brand new creature feature. Don't feel bad if you've never before heard of Reptisaurus because the monster was the subject of a short-lived Silver Age comic published by the long defunct Charlton Comics back in the hay day of giant Japanese monster movies. The comic only ran for seven issues from 1962-1963. I'd say that's pretty darn obscure.

A few days back, when we did our latest Fear Fest update and mentioned that E.T. star Henry Thomas would be joining us in Texas this March 7th-9th, were you a bit perplexed? Sure, Thomas has done some good genre work in things like Dead Birds, but why’s he hitting cons now?

Remember when the horror flick flick called Dead Air was supposed to come out during the winter of 2007? Yeah, that didn't seem to happen. It just sort of vanished. This really pissed me off since the idea of watching two DJs trying to get the word out about a terrorist-born zombie contagion sounds pretty cool.
