How cool is it to see Joe Dante’s name in the trades for two days in a row? Very cool, that’s how! Yesterday we told you he’d be directing the new film from Masters of Horror writers Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, Bat out of Hell; today he was officially attached to another outstanding horror project, The Hole.
So we've been away for a while. "Why?" you ask. There just hasn't been very much to talk about. I mean honestly, Prom Night? Who cares? "Moonlight" getting canceled? Big deal! Frustrated, we went on a soul searching retreat in Guam. Now that we have once again regained our chi, we're back with a vengeance!
In an interesting move both for network television and viewers in general, Fox announced today that they will be trying a new experiment with two of next season’s more promising shows; the JJ Abrams-creatred “Fringe” and Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse”. Namely, less commercials!
In some heartbreaking news Tyrese Gibson is no longer associated with the upcoming zombie opus Condition Dead. But fear not, weeping readers, the production is moving ahead without him!
Well, this is a bit unexpected; for the first time since its inception, After Dark Films will be featuring a sequel as one of this year’s 8 Films to Die For. Some may question the validity of said sequel, but there is a good chance of it getting butts in seats.
Those spooky boys over at Fangoria got the first look at the DVD art for Greg McLean’s Rogue, his follow-up to Wolf Creek that, despite positive word of mouth, has been doomed to coming in way under the radar, as well as the features that will be on the disc when Dimension Extreme releases it on August 5th.
We just got our hands on not one, but two, clips from the Paul Andrew Williams (interview) film The Cottage (DVD review), which is out on DVD right now! The first features one of the wanna-be kidnappers trying to intimidate their hostage, who’s just not having it. The other is the first appearance, to this character at least, of a hideously deformed monstrosity, which makes him scream like a bitch.
Man, nothing irks me more than waiting and waiting to see the DVD art for a movie I’m looking forward to, only for it to just be the theatrical poster. So many good images from Doomsday and they just had to go with this again, eh?
Talk about a match made in Hell; Werner Herzog is getting ready to direct a new “horror-tinged” drama with David Lynch on board to executive produce, according to Yahoo! Movies.
I really don’t know if I would be able to consider being stuck in a village full of women who've been enslaved by a vampire curse a bad thing. I mean, women tend to be more seductive when searching for blood, right? I think I could live with that...
While the Sci-Fi Channel is currently the top network when it comes to premiering B-movie genre fluff, though the Hallmark Network, Ion, and even Lifetime have also been increasingly uncorking some horrific humdingers, Spike TV (AKA the Ultimate Fighting channel) is only starting to make waves in the original movie field.
This morning some very good news came down for Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, who up until now have been best know as the writers of John Carpenter’s two Masters of Horror entries; Joe Dante has signed on to direct their latest feature-length script, Bat Out of Hell!
Finally, the popular kids horror series Goosebumps is making its way to the big screen. The hopes and prayers of thousands of kids (who are probably far too old to care now) have been answered. I wonder if it’s too late?
No, it's not a special cheat code in Grand Theft Auto IV that would allow Nico to enter our lives for real, although I really wouldn't mind. I kind of like the guy! What we're talking about here is the new film from Florida-based filmmakers Andrew Allan and Andy Lalino. Two very sick minds indeed!
What is it about horror themed channels? This idea just seems to be doomed. Monsters HD was and is the only true channel out there dedicated to our genre. Unfortunately their main platform has just pulled the rug out from under them.
