Michael De Luca was the former president of production at New Line Cinema during the “good years.” And today Deadline reports he has now been appointed MGM Film Group Chairman. So we can expect some quality horror coming out over the next few years, methinks.
De Luca was an Executive producer on New Line film such as Dark City, Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, Blade, Blade II, In the Mouth of Madness, The Mask, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Boogie Nights, American History X, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and Magnolia.
More than that though, De Luca is a well-known writer in our beloved genre with scripts under his belt for projects such as Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, Freddy’s Nightmares, John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness, and Judge Dredd with Sylvester Stallone.
Since his time at New Line, he’s also had a hand in films such as The Social Network, Drive Angry, Priest, Fright Night, Captain Phillips, Dracula Untold, and The Suicide Squad.
