The #1 Thriller On The Hulu Charts Is A Harrowing True Crime Story: “I couldn’t go to sleep after the first episode”

This gripping 2018 miniseries based on true events is finding a second life this week. It has made its way into a beloved streamer’s charts and proves a lot of you are willing to pay premium prices to binge it. The #1 thriller on Hulu this week is Waco via the Showtime add-on.

In the series, the FBI and ATF seize religious leader David Koresh’s Branch Davidian compound near Waco, Texas in the spring of 1993. The Branch Davidians were an apocalyptic cult that started in 1930 as an off-shoot of Seventh-Day Adventists. But it gained notoriety under the leadership of Koresh in the 1980s, which ultimately led to the notorious 51-day stand-off in Waco that led to the death of four officers and 76 cult members.

Waco was developed for TV by Drew Dowdle and John Erick Dowdle. It stars Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, Andrea Riseborough, Rory Culkin, Demore Barnes, Camryn Manheim, and John Leguizamo.

All six episodes are currently streaming on Hulu via the Showtime add-on. Those without access to Showtime can take advantage of their partnership with Paramount+ to watch it there.

With the series now getting more attention on Hulu, viewers have taken to Twitter to share their horrified responses to the shocking series.

Part of the reason this show has gained traction again is that Showtime is releasing a follow-up series on April 14th. Waco: The Aftermath will see Michael Shannon and John Leguizamo return.

Read the full synopsis below:

Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the tragic events at Mt. Carmel that began on February 28, 1993, WACO: THE AFTERMATH focuses on the fallout of the Waco disaster: the trials of the surviving members of the Branch Davidian sect and the rise of homegrown terrorist, Timothy McVeigh. The five-episode limited series also provides a broader context for the escalation of the American militia movement, which foreshadows the infamous attacks of the Oklahoma City bombing and the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
